AADHAAR CARD ( AADHAR CARD ) :

Aadhaar is a 12 Digit identification number to all Indian Citizens based on their Bio metric and demographic data issued in the form of a card by Government of India ( Popular as Aadhar Card ) . This data is collected by Unique Identification Authority of India ( UIDAI ) . UIDAI is a statutory body established in 2016 by Government of India under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology . Data collection is authorized under the provisions of AADHAAR ( Targeted Delivery of Financial and other subsidies , benefits and services ) Act 2016. More than 112 crore Indians have enrolled and have obtained their Aadhaar Numbers and Cards .

A person who has enrolled with UIDAI will get a AADHAAR CARD , which contains 12 Digit Aadhar Number . Name and Address , QR code both in English and Local Launguage . Further it can be kept in electronic form also . The card can be used for identification purpose .

FREE OF COST ONLINE AADHAAR UPDATION : TIME LIMIT FURTHER EXTENDED

Dated 21.06.2024 : UIDAI has now extended its free service for updating Aadhaar on-line till 14th , September 2024 .

Dated 13.03.2024 : UIDAI has now extended its free service for updating Aadhaar on-line till 14th , June 2024 .

The UIDAI has been encouraging residents to upload Proof of Identity and Proof of Address (PoI/PoA) documents to revalidate their demographic details, especially if Aadhaar was issued 10 years back and never got updated. If there is a need to change details like Name, Date of Birth, Address, etc, the residents can use regular online update service, or may visit nearest Aadhaar centre. In such cases normal charges will apply.

ON-LINE UPDATION FREE OF COST ​

Dated 16.03.2023 : The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has decided to allow residents to update documents in their Aadhaar online free of cost .

As part of Digital India initiative, the UIDAI took the decision and is urging residents to get the benefit of free document update facility on myAadhaar portal. The free service is available for the next three months, i.e., March 15 to June 14, 2023. It is important to note that this service is free only on myAadhaar portal and will continue to attract a fee of Rs 50 at physical Aadhaar centres, as in the case earlier.

How to update Aadhaar Card Details ?

One may need to change the details of address , names after marriage , mobile numbers , e-mail address or any other information after enrolment . To update these details , one can use mode of on-line to submit update request , or send request by post or by visiting permanent enrolment Centre .

Once you successfully complete the process of online address update, you get a 14 digit number called URN or Update Request Number. This URN is also sent via SMS to your number . One can check the update request status of Aadhaar by dialing 1947 where you have to furnish URN Number to get the latest status of the update request .

HOW TO VERIFY REGISTERED MOBILE NUMBER / E-MAIL FOR AN AADHAAR ?

Dated 03.05.2023 : Keeping user benefits in mind, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has allowed residents to verify their mobile numbers and email IDs seeded with their Aadhaar.

It had come to the notice of the UIDAI that in some instances, residents were not aware/sure about that which of their mobile numbers is seeded to their Aadhaar. Hence residents were worried that Aadhaar OTP might be going to some other mobile number. Now, with this facility, the residents can check these quite easily. The facility can be availed under ‘Verify email/mobile Number’ feature on the official website (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/) or through mAadhaar App. It has been developed for the residents to verify that their own email/mobile number is seeded with respective Aadhaar.

This feature gives confirmation to resident that email/mobile number under his/her knowledge is only seeded to respective Aadhaar. It also notifies the resident in case a particular mobile number is not linked, and informs resident to take necessary steps to update the mobile number, if they wish so. In case mobile number is already verified residents will see a message like, ‘the mobile number you have entered is already verified with our records’, displayed on their screen. In case a resident does not remember the mobile number, she/he has given during enrolment she/he can check the last three digits of the mobile on Verify Aadhaar feature on Myaadhaar portal or mAadhaar App.
If a resident wants to link email/mobile number with Aadhaar or want to update her/his email/mobile number, she/he may visit a nearest Aadhaar centre.
You can verify the e-mail or mobile number given to you with Aadhaar details , whether they are registered with the aadhaar or not by CLICKING HERE .

​Once you enter Aadhaar number & Mobile number & captcha , an OTP will be sent to the Aadhaar card holder's mobile . Once you enter the OTP , it will confirm whether the mobile number is attached to the aadhaar or not . However you require cardholder' co-operation to carry out the check .

How to Link Voter Card with Aadhaar ?

YOU CAN LINK YOUR VOTER ID EASILY WITH AADHAAR CARD :

Dated 11.08.2022 : If your Aadhaar is linked yo your mobile number , you can easily link your Voter ID your Aadhar on-line very easily . Here are the steps you have to take for the purpose :

1, Go to National Voters Services Portal by Clicking here
2. Log in if you have already registered with he portal or Register your Mobile number by entering your mobile number and Captcha here

3. Once you have successfully registered , log-in to the portal
4. Then select Letter of Information of Aadhaar Number for the purpose of electoral verification .
5. You will get Form Index and select Form 6B
5. In the form 6B , fill in Voter ID Number , your mobile number , e-mail address and Aadhaar Number .
6. Then you also fill up place and captcha and review
7. You confirm and you will get Acknowledgement
8. Note down your Form reference ID for checking the status later.

However linking of Voter ID with Aadhaar is not yet mandatory and a voter may voluntarily submit his Aadhaar details to the election Commission which is endeavoring to link both the IDs .

mAadhaar : Mobile Application of UIDAI

for Smart Phone ( ANDROID ) Users .

Dated 22.07.2017 Recently UIDAI has launched Beta version of Mobile Application which can be downloaded by Android Mobile Phone Users and used for carrying their Aadhaar Number details along with their address in their mobile phones . QR Number there in can be used to share the data with others .

However the profiles can only be downloaded on the mobile numbers registered with UIDAI at the time of enrollment or through status update . If Aadhaar numbers of family members are linked to the same mobile number , up to 3 profiles can be created in one single application .

AADHAAR IS REQUIRED FOR IDENTIFICATION BY VARIOUS AGENCIES

Aadhaar is primarily used to identify an Indian resident and works as an Identification card .

Various Government agencies have linked Aadhaar with their programmes for distribution of various Government subsidies . Such linkages have helped the government departments to eliminate duplicates . Some of programmes linked are Subsidy distribution for LPG Cylinders , attendance sheet for MGNREGS ( Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme , Ration Cards etc. It was also introduced in government offices for Aadhar enabled Bio-metric attendance system . It is also being used for disbursal of pensions , scholarships etc .

Now from 01.07.2017 , it has become mandatory to link their Aadhar numbers with Permanent Account Number ( PAN ) issued by Income Tax Department for all Indians except for the following :
a. Non Resident Indians
b. Residents of the states of Jammu & Kashmir , Assam and Meghalaya
c. All Residents of age 80 years and above
d. Non Indian Citizens .

Aadhaar is also required for filing of Income tax returns from 01.07.2017

HOW TO APPLY FOR AADHAAR ( Aadhar ) CARD ?

AADHAAR CENTRE NEAR ME :

To enroll , one has to necessarily go to Aadhaar Enrolment Centre along with above explained documents ( one each for identification , address and Date of Birth ) . In Aadhaar Enrolment Centres, one has to fill enrolment form and submit it along with proofs of identity , address and date of birth . Their Bio metric and demographic data ( Finger prints , Facial photos and iris ) will be captured by the officials there .
If the proofs are available only in the name of Head of the family , he/ she may introduce family members with a Proof of relationship . In case of children below 5 years , parents' / guardian's name , biometric, aadhaar number to be provided. During enrolment , one can view the data captured and get necessary corrections made .

After enrolment , one will be issued with an acknowledgement slip .

Subsequently Aadhaar Card will be mailed to the address given .

You will need to enter EID (Enrolment ID) to check your Aadhaar Status. The EID is displayed on the top of your enrolment/update acknowledgement slip and contains 14 digit enrolment number (1234/12345/12345) and the 14 digit date and time (dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss) of enrolment. These 28 digits together form your Enrolment ID (EID).

( In case if you lost EID you can retrieve lost or forgotten EID by your registered mobile number. )
